Hashgachah Prati (הַשְׁגָּחָה פְּרָטִית): Divine Providence.

God’s active involvement in and supervision of creation.

This follows each individual through every detail of a life.

Pratit means particular, individual care, detailed from prat, a single item or detail.

It’s opposite, Hashgachah Klalit (הַשְׁגָּחָה כְּלָלִית), is general governance and providence denoting the care of the whole rather than the care of each part.

The Zohar and the Lurianic literature read every event as part of the cosmic drama of Tikkun — every soul is in the body it needs to be in, every encounter contains the sparks the souls are there to gather. Chaim Vital’s Shaar HaGilgulim treats individual lives as precisely engineered, each moment placed so that specific work can be done.
